What Rockstar announced
On October 29, Rockstar's Newswire announced Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score by Justice. The duo of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay wrote the music that runs under the game itself. The score is out on December 11 on the major streaming services, and on CD and vinyl, with 30 tracks.
A score that reacts to how you play
According to Rockstar, the compositions are built to respond to the different ways players move through Vice City and Leonida during Jason and Lucia's story. That is the job of a game score: it changes with chases, heists, and quiet moments, rather than playing as a fixed playlist.
Two singles so far
- Flower in a Hurricane, with Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It is the song from the launch trailer.
- Pusher, featuring Gesaffelstein, released on October 29 together with the announcement.
Score, album, and radio are three different things
GTA 6 has three music releases, and they are easy to mix up:
- The score by Justice: the game's own background music, out December 11.
- GTA VI: The Album: 34 original songs by artists such as Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen, and Rauw Alejandro, out November 19 with the game.
- The in-game radio: stations such as Flash FM and Cocoteo FM, playing existing records. Six were previewed in October.
So if you hear a Justice track in a chase on November 19, you will have to wait until December 11 to stream it.
