The report
On October 13, GamesBeat reported, citing four anonymous industry sources, that Rockstar plans to release GTA 6 on PC in the first quarter of 2027, between January and March. Dozens of outlets picked it up. All of them trace back to that single report.
What Rockstar has confirmed
Nothing. Rockstar and Take-Two have not commented, and the official GTA VI page lists only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In May 2026, Take-Two suggested that PC players are not Rockstar's core audience at launch. Our PC status page will change the moment that does.
Why early 2027 would be fast
Rockstar has a history of long gaps between console and PC:
- GTA V launched on consoles in September 2013 and reached PC in April 2015, about 19 months later.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in October 2018 and came to PC in November 2019, about 13 months later.
A release in the first months of 2027 would cut that gap to a few months. Analyst Michael Pachter has guessed six or seven months. The report also has a business angle: January to March is Take-Two's fiscal fourth quarter, so a PC launch then would land in that year's results.
What to do if you only play on PC
Do not pre-order a console edition expecting a free PC upgrade, because none has been announced. Store pages, the price, and any cross-progression would all come with an official announcement. Until then, treat early 2027 as a credible rumor, not a date.
